LS1.1 and LS2.0
LS1.1 is a table lamp, made from a hand folded sheet of paper, with a beautiful Arabic calligraphy written by hand in Nastaleeq script, and reads:“والذي نفسه بغير جمال… لا يرى في الحياة شيئاً جميلاً” “He how has no beauty in his self, can’t see beauty in life”.
LS2.0 is a multi purpose lamp, though it was originally designed to be a pendant lampshade, it could be laid on a side table or on the floor.
The Arabic script is a poem by Al-Hallaj a sufi poet and scholar, and reads: “رأيت ربّي بعين قلبي… فقلت من أنت؟ قال أنت” “I saw god with my heart’s eyes, I asked who are you? he said you”. And it’s written in Thuluth script.
This project was a collaboration between Ghaith Adib, an origami artist and interior designer, and Ghaleb Hawila, an Arabic calligrapher and graphic designer.
