Abou Anwar
Abou Anwar is a character created to showcase the rich diversity within the Syrian community. He embodies the idea that any combination of traits, no matter how unique, can be found among the Syrian people.
The character originated from an old sketch I made of a middle-aged man drinking Yerba Mate, inspired by someone I once saw in Syria. I employed a modular design approach, creating multiple options for each layer (clothing, headgear, facial hair, etc.) and then using a script to mix and match these options, resulting in hundreds of unique variations.
This modular approach not only highlights the versatility and adaptability of the Syrian people but also allows for a deeper exploration of cultural and individual identities. Each variation of Abou Anwar tells a different story, reflecting the myriad ways in which personal and cultural traits can combine.
By using this method, I aim to celebrate the uniqueness of every individual within the Syrian community, demonstrating that diversity is not just about differences but also about the beautiful combinations that make each person unique.
